My character died of old age right at the turning point when the Khergits were just too weak to keep up. I continued the rest of the playthrough as the son who was then able to just STEAMROLL the Khergits and take over the rest of Calradia. Also if you are looking at the battle synopsis you can see a red 1 in the kill column for the dead lord. Finally when the battle is completed, you will see the name of the slain lord appear under the amount of renown, that you receive at the end of the battle. This does not apply to the player.
